I am interested in using the "Hello World" plugin to create a different sort of ATutor, one that is more appealing to children, especially to children who are analphabetic. It involves using images and sound in place of text in quiz questions. However, I have noticed that even the smallest alteration of a file that calls vitals.php will turn the screen white. What do I need to do to avoid that?

If you're sure the code is not causing the error, remove any trailing lines and spaces at the end of the file.

Check your php error log after a white screen occurs.

For the child version of ATutor you should probably look at themes, and the test related templates in particular. See the theme designer documentation.

Thank you, Greg for your reply.

Simply changing an <li> to a <span>, for instance, to get a row of images, is enough to cause a white page.

I will follow your advice and check the php logs.
