| Hi Greg, You had said: "You can set specific release dates, but you can not set a user by user release. I don't think any of the current LMSs will do that. You can set releases based on passing a test, which might substitute for what you need." How exactly would this be done? I have created a lesson and a test for it. How could I create a delay so that the next lesson would be delivered a day later? Thanks! Robert Posted: 2010-02-05 17:54:30 | ||

| There's a couple ways you could set the release of a test a day after the release of the content, though using calendar days, not days relative to the present. First set the release date for a content page under the Properties tab in the content editor. Then either: Set the release date for the test attached to the page in Manage>Tests&Surveys>[test name]>Edit>Start Date or Create a second page with just an intro to the test, and attach a test to it. Set that content page's release date to the next calendar day. I suggest exploring and experimenting, and print yourself off a copy of the instructor handbook to read, clicking the Single Page view in the handbook window. Have an instructor and a student account, and switch between the two to test things. Posted: 2010-02-05 18:27:43 | ||

| Thanks Greg, I can see how to set dates for lessons and tests. However, what I need is something that will all be relative to the date a student begins the lessons. To have a fixed date is not helpful because everyone doing the lessons will have to start at the same time. It works much better if someone can just come in, sign up for a series of lessons and then have the lessons be delivered one piece at a time as they progress. And I would prefer to have a day or two between lessons. Is there any way to accomplish this? Another question is this - can I develop a custom module for this functionality that will integrate with the rest of ATutor? Thanks again, Robert Posted: 2010-02-05 19:14:52 | ||

| Setting individualized dates, either relative to student's enrollment or other content release dates, is not currently possible. Surely it's possible to develop a custom module (or, rather, a patch) for that. From a programmer's perspective it should be quite easy. But do have a look at tests. You can block certain lessons until a student passes a test. Thus you could introduce a bit of automatic control over how students progress, not based on time spent, but on actual knowledge acquired.
