The first release of the BigBlueButton module for ATutor is now available.

BigBlueButton (http://bigbluebutton.org/) is an open source video conferencing system that can be use to add live audio and video meetings to ATutor courses. Other features include Powerpoint slideshow presentations, desktop sharing, and a whiteboard.

You can find the module on our module downloads page:
atutor.ca/atutor/modules/index.php

It can also be installed into ATutor 2.0+ using the administrator's module installer.

The source code can also be found on GitHub at:
https://github.com/atutor/bigbluebutton

The BigBlue Button looks good (from the Demo) and installing the aTutor module is no problem. However - is there an "idiot's guide for idiots" about installing the BBB server? Not being technically minded, I just cannot get this part - Mr Fred Dixon from bbb sent me the instruction "To setup your own BigBlueButton server, see code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/08InstallationUbuntu"

Is this the way to go and where do I install this? Sorry to bother you.

BBB can be a bit of a challenge to setup. If you have access to an Ubuntu or Debian Linux system, there are packages available that are relatively easy to install on these platforms. You can pretty much click and follow instructions to install BBB.

You might also suggest to Siteground that they make a BBB installation available.

I did as you said and suggested a BBB installation to Siteground. You may be interested in their reply which was "I am afraid that Big Blue Button cannot be installed on our shared hosting servers because we can't alter the global configuration. The Big Blue Button server can be configured only on our Dedicated Servers."
