MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
Webserver & version - XAMPP (will be deployed on some other servers)
Copies of error messages - there's no error message; I just want some help
Changes to default settings - Uh... none I think.
Web browser being used - Mozilla Firefox 11.0, Google Chrome 18.0.1025.162, Internet Exploder 8.0.6001.18702
...and anything else relevant - Nah, some help...

Hello ATutor community! I'm just new here and feels lost and have no idea what I'm doing. My objective by the way is, how do I add a student to a group if I'm the professor? What I've been doing was Click on
(1) [course name] > Manage > Groups > [Group Title] > Members > ???????????????
(2) Networking > My Contacts > ??? I can not even view all the members! I need to search them one by one.

My real objective was, to write directly to the database (from a java code reading a text file) so that I do not need to register these students one by one. By the way, they are employees of various ages and technical skills. If possible these students are grouped already according to department and courses finished.

Well, going back. How do I add people to a group the easiest way. The group is secret, means that IT MUST NOT APPEAR IN THE SEARCH RESULTS. Any solutions will do, probably through the database directly. (I'm irritated using the web interface, lol)

Many thanks guys in advance! sorry beacuse I'm already freaking out. =Dwink

(1) [course name] > Manage > Groups > [Group Title] > Members > ???????????????

Student have to be registered on the system and members of a course before adding them to a course group. I'm not sure where to start describing how groups work. I'd suggest reading the Group page in the instructor handbook. Link in the footer.

(2) Networking > My Contacts > ??? I can not even view all the members! I need to search them one by one.

You cannot view all members on the network. Think about how Facebook or Google+ works. Neither will allow you to browse through members. You generally need to know the people you're adding to your network.

Also look at the Course Lists page in the Instructor Handbook for details on importing a list of students.

okay greg, thanks... Currently, I'm trying to make a solution myself... To run a java bytecode (a desktop application) so that I can register massive users and groups. Again, thanks for the reply. I got the point of Facebook and G++.
