GSoC 2014 is quickly approaching. The ideas page is coming together and this year's mentoring org application is ready to go.

Mentors: For those interested in mentoring a student for the summer, the deadline for submitting ideas is February 14, 2014. You can still join as a mentor after that date, mentoring one of projects not yet mentored, or see what the students come up with and mentor one of their ideas. If you plan to paticipate, make yourself know ASAP. This year marking the 10th anniversary, everyone gets a Google hoodie in place if the usual GSoC T-shirt.

Students: If you want to participate as a student now is the time to get started. Find your way to the IRC channel and make contact, take a look at the bug tracker and see if there's a bug you can resolve. Design a project of your own if you think you have a good idea. Its almost always those who get started early and make themselves known, that get spot with IDI for the summer.

Great news! Our GSoC application has been accepted. Students should start getting their proposals together.

Follow the links above for more details.

Hi,
I am Kashyap, I wanted to contribute to project-2, on creating a public API. Could you give me some pointers and connect me to the mentors because of time lag I am unable to contact any of them through the IRC chat. Hope for a encouraging reply.

Doing your communicating with mentors in IRC is a requirement. It will be the primary way to keep in contact with your mentor during GSoC, so you need to demostrate you can use it.

Most mentors are around IRC between 9am to 5pm UTC-5 (Eastern Time), though you can often find them online at other times.

If you mean something like atutor.godigitally.in, yes you can create a subdomain.

A system administrator should be able to do that easily.
