Studentes don't receive the confirmation email

Hi

We are using Atutor 1.6.2 and our OS is Linux 2.6.18. All was working properly until 10 days ago; students have stopped receiving the confirmation email with the user name and password. They appear in the list of the course but they don't receive the email with the data. When they phone us, we give them the name and passsword and can enter the application.


We have not done any change, and once inside a course, we can send emails that appear inside the Atutor Inbox, but they don't go any further (to the email application of the receiver). Does anyone have any idea of what is happening?

This might be a question to pose to you IT staff, or service provider. Perhaps sendmail needs restarting.

Also make sure students are checking their spam filters.

I am the IT staff ;-)

It is not fault of the spam filters, I have tried sending a new email to me from ATutor (I have stopped the spam filters) and I receive nothing. The service provider says that the DNS service is working properly.

I will make a new Atutor installation in a new folder and see what happens...

If it was working, then stopped, It will be an issue at the server end rather than ATutor. Someone with root access to the server would need to investigate, checking logs, etc to track down the problem.

I'll conctact again with the service provider to see what we can do. I am totally lost though.

Hi again!

Finally I solved the problem. I had to go to the config.inc.php file and then change

define('MAIL_USE_SMTP', FALSE)-->define('MAIL_USE_SMTP', TRUE)

Now they receive emails again. This post helped me a lot:
