Hello! smile

Since almost five hours I am trying to install ATutor 2.2.2. My installation finished at step 2 with an error "Unable to select or create database my_database_name". I have been looking for some help here by a little research, I have "commented" some lines of code, tried to write password, username and so on many times to be sure that no additional chars are being inserted. All requirements to install are marked green. The problem may be that I have no permission to create new database. I have to use one I already got. I use free hosting website, so I dont think that admins would allow me to create new database for free. I want just test by myself how does the ATutor work, but it doesn't work yet... Please help haha What can I do?

If you are asking for help, provide lots of detail so problems can be reproduced.

Things to describe:
Operating system ATutor is installed on - no idea
ATutor version - 2.2.2
Patch #s applied -
ATutor theme name -
PHP version - 5.6
MySQL version - 5
Webserver & version - I have no idea
Copies of error messages -
Changes to default settings -
Web browser being used - newest Mozilla

You can install into an existing database, if you are unable to create one.

When you are installing, enter the details for your existing database, and where is specifies in the form, enter a table prefix. This ensures there are no table conflicts when setting up your ATutor tables.

I typically use AT_ as a table prefix, but it could be any string.

Yes I have tried to enter my existing database, but it doesn't work. I am sure that I give correct pass and so on, because I have logged with it into my database. What can I do then?

Are there any special characters in the database login or password?

If so try changing the password.

No special characters. Only in database name which looks like websitename_hosting_pl, but I cant change it.

The underscores in the DB name should be fine. I was thinking more like quotes, and angle brackets, which seem are problematic for some versions of Mysql.

Unfortunately I don't have any other suggestion for your. You could review the error logs and see if there are any clues there. Talk to your service provider explaining the problem. Perhaps they, knowing how the server is configured, will be able to identify the problem. Or, change providers. ATutor generally installs without any problems on most providers.

If you just want to play around with ATutor, you could try setting up a free site on ATutorSpaces.com, or play with the demo site there.

I solved my problem. And the problem was commented script smile

Heres how I fixed this:
1. Went to include/install/install.inc.php
2. Changed lines:
440 for: /* if($isdb == 0){
458 for: }*/ else {
3. Actually there were commented lines from 460 to about 474 maybe, so I removed comments.

I checked this file on my pc and it is not commented. Maybe it was problem with unpacking.

Sorry, but I thought it works, but when I checked database, there were no tables created by ATutor. I will try another hosting.

Have you confirmed your mysql user has create table privileges?

I have installed many website softwares like phpbb or wordpress and so on, so I am sure it has such permissions.
