Background:I want to test/install my Norwegian Nynorsk translation.

1) To test, I first used the link "Add a new language" in the Language preferences setting of ATutor, and set up the details.

2) Then I clicked the Import button and selected the file 'archive.zip' and imported - and expected everything to work.

3) However, instead of seeing the translation, I only see English text inside square brackets all over. Example: [ AT_WARNING_TRANSLATE_ON ]

4) Additionally, I this warning: «The following errors occurred:
ATutor was unable to access the database. If the problem persists, please report this to an Administrator with this date reference (02/07/2015 03:02:51 am)»

I don’t understand which database it doesn’t commnicate with or why it fails. For instance, to test, I downloaded the German translation for ATutor 2.2 and made a zip file of it, myself, and tried to import that file. And everything worked fine, without any database error message.

Thankful for any hint. Btw, to begin with, I simply took my working Nynorsk translation for ATutor 1.1 and tried to import it the same way as described above. But I got the same error messages. The package I try to import now has been updated to 2.2 (though I left some of the translations in English - for now.) To no avail.

According to www.atutor.ca/atutor/translate/index.php

«If the language pack you need is not yet available for the version of ATutor you are using, YOU CAN IMPORT ONE OF THE OLDER VERSIONS AND UPDATE IT.»

I tested this methodology using the Turkish language page, which has not yet become updated to ATutor 2.2.

Result: The same result that I complained about above.

So there seems to be a systemic problem here somewhere - that is not related especially to my package.

Hm. It worked for the 2.1.1 Turkish file, when I did it the "correct" way. And also worked for my 2.1.1. Nynorsk file, when only I *did not* click "Add new language" _before_ importing the old package. (If I *did* click the "Add new language" etc, then it does not work. I understood something in the documentation to say that one SHOULD use 'Add new language" first, but either I misunderstood or that information was wrong.)
